![]() ![]() Instead of "You gave me a forever within the numbered days.", try "You are all the colours at once, at full brightness." There is some beautiful imagery and a number of amazing quotes that could rival those from The Fault in our Stars which are currently taking over the internet. The characters are shown in so much detail, through straight forward description as well as how they speak and act. The writing style of All the Bright Places is fantastic. ![]() Through their visits to these strange places, the pair bond and eventually become romantically involved. Without spoiling too much, I can tell you that our star-crossed lovers visit a ball of paint, a back-yard roller-coaster and a tiny mountain. Yet it still has a basis in real life, with more than one tear-jerker moment and a heart breaking (but slightly bitter-sweet) ending. This is a story full of unique quirks and endearing, detailed characters. The story is told through Finch and Violet's alternating perspectives, which brings the touching tale to life beautifully. ![]()

![]() In a sense, you might see him as a test employed by God. Others may have this notion because he is often seen as a tempter of man, a seducer, and one who encourages and condones men to sin. Others, however, see Samael as an equivalent of Satan, though, quite unlike Satan, he does not appear to be evil given his functions directly serve God such as destroying sinners. You see, Samael is often thought in Jewish law to be the main angel of death and you only need to look at some of his nicknames to see this some of which include ‘the venom of God’, ‘the poison of God’, ‘the blindness of God’, or ‘the left hand of God.’ Samael, also called “the Grim Reaper” in modern pop culture, sits enrobed with a scythe in hand on top of the world ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Special care has been taken with the language and content of The Final Warning. ![]() In the spirit of the most enduring hit movies and books, James Patterson has written this story for readers from ten to a hundred and ten. The play is often read as a response and criticism to the sudden upsurge of Fascism and Nazism during the events preceding World War II, and explores the themes of conformity, culture, fascism, responsibility, logic, mass movements, mob mentality, philosophy and morality. Over the course of three acts, the inhabitants of a small, provincial French town turn into rhinoceroses ultimately the only human who does not succumb to this mass metamorphosis is the central character, Bérenger, a flustered everyman figure who is initially criticized in the play for his drinking, tardiness, and slovenly lifestyle and then, later, for his increasing paranoia and obsession with the rhinoceroses. He's a likeable character, but the prophetic speaking grew tiresome. At first I was willing to ride in his head, but eventually I was eager for something to start happening. The story is told through the narration of Norman McCay, a small time but wise pastor, but I think an issue was the lag before getting to the meat and heart of the story, taking too long to propel my interest. It's a future story of the dark days ahead of the DC Universe, which should have been difficult for me to relinquish. Everything is here that should make me really like or love this book - great reviews and high rating, creative writing, bleakness, a focus on Superman and he's in his full power, interesting storyline - so what was the issue? It was hard to stay focused, easy to put down, and I was happy to have it finished. This is such a confusing book/review for me. ![]() ![]() ![]() I am pleased that feedback from the previous miniature book appears to have been taken onboard. I’m excited to begin this miniature colouring book, whilst the tiny illustrations are still not for the faint-hearted, they are beautiful, intricate and delicate. ![]() The first photo included is in natural room light and the two other photos are taken using a flash. Similarly the paper feels of a better quality compared to the previous miniature book. The miniature Enchanted Forest feels much more streamlined and do-able in terms of colouring, some of the lines are a bit thicker in places and from first appearances some illustrations seem to have been reworked/cut down rather than just shrunk to size like Secret Garden. ![]() Comparing with J.B’s previous miniature book “Secret Garden” it appears that more care has been put into scaling down the illustrations appropriately, with only the odd leaf or petal being difficult to colour at all. ![]() |
